This calculator can help you figure out the future value of a retirement account, as well as three possible annuities that could be funded using this money. Specifically, this calculator takes into consideration a fund's current balance, annual payments, and the duration over which payments will be placed into this fund. The resulting future value of this fund is then converted into three annuity terms: 20, 25, and 30 years.

Calculator Definitions

The variables used in our online calculator are defined in detail below, including how to interpret the results.

Current Fund Balance ($)

This is the starting balance, or principal, of the fund you're going to invest into an annuity at a future point in time.

Annual Payment Amount ($ / Year)

This is the amount of money you're willing to place into this account each year in order to create an estate large enough to subsequently fund an annuity.

Payment Period (Years)

This is the number of years over which the money will be placed into the retirement fund.

Annual Interest Rate (%)

This is the interest rate earned per period. This calculator uses an annual interest rate to derive the future value of the retirement fund.

Future Fund Value ($)

This is the future value of the fund, stated in nominal, or today's dollar terms. This is the starting point of the annuity, which will be funded using this retirement account.

Annuity Payments ($ / Year)

These are the three annual payments the investor can expect to receive from the annuity. This tool provides a calculation of three annuities of various terms including 20, 25, and 30 years.
