What Would The Bridgerton Characters Net Worths Be In 2023?

Season 3 of Bridgerton, one of Netflix’s hit series, is looming on the horizon, and fans are eagerly anticipating the return of the aristocracy to see who will be crowned jewel of the season this time round.

The series focuses on some of the wealthiest aristocratic families in England in the early 1800s, with the season led by Queen Charlotte. Of course, we know these families are wealthy - but just how wealthy are they in 2023’s standards?

Here, the experts at Moneyzine.com have estimated the net worth of each major Bridgerton family were they to exist today in 2023 - revealing that the looked-down-upon working characters in the series could be amongst the wealthiest of them all!

Prince Friedrich of Prussia

Estimated Net Worth: £1.5 billion

Prince Friedrich of Prussia features in Season 1 of Bridgerton, and is one of the love interests of Daphne Bridgerton, whom the season focuses on.

Prussia was a German state located on most of the North European Plain, also occupying southern regions. As a result of merging the German states in 1871, the German Empire was formed.

For that reason, it’s not easy to give a direct answer on how much Prince Friedrich would be worth in 2023, since his empire no longer exists! However, we might compare him to Prince Albert von Thurn und Taxis of Germany, who has a whopping net worth of $2 billion (£1.5 billion)!

Queen Charlotte and King George

Estimated Net Worth: £300 - £400 million

Queen Charlotte and King George, perhaps unsurprisingly, top the list as the wealthiest characters in Bridgerton. Comparing the royal pair to the existing monarchy, we could estimate their net worth to be between £400 - £300 million.

Queen Elizabeth’s net worth was estimated at $520 million (£406m), whilst King Charles is estimated to have a net worth of around $400 million (£314m).

Genevieve Delacroix

Estimated Net Worth: £316 million

In the series, Genevieve Delacroix is the dressmaker for almost every wealthy woman in the town. Although working women were considered lower class back in the 1800s and Madame Delacroix’s income would not nearly have matched any of the aristocratic families, that would not be the case in 2023.

If we were to consider the character to be simply a dress maker, she would still be earning an annual salary of around £43500. However, Madame Delacroix is the designer, dressmaker, and owner of her own brand - not to mention for the wealthiest families in England.

We could therefore assume that in 2023, she would be on the level of other successful designers. Assuming she maintained her French facade, Madame Delacroix’s net worth could match that of French fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier, who’s net worth is estimated at an enormous $300million (£316 million).

Will Mondrich

Estimated Net Worth: £37 million

Will Mondrich and his wife, Alice, are close friends of the Duke of Hastings in the first season. Will is a boxer and owns the boxing gym, hosting matches as well as fighting in them.

In season 2, Will and Alice step up further in society as Will becomes the proprietor of a gentleman’s club. If we considered Will Mondrich as a gym owner in 2023, he would have an annual income of around £43,344. However, as a Gentlemen's club owner, he could be a lot wealthier.

If we were to compare him to the late Peter Stringfellow, owner of Stringfellows in London, his net worth could be as much as £37 million.

Will and his wife, Alice, are close friends of the duke, and Will regularly trains Simon in boxing. He appears to own a boxing gym and even hosts competitive boxing matches.

Daphne Basset (nee Bridgerton) and Simon Basset - Duke and Duchess of Hastings

Estimated Net Worth: £48 million

Duke is the second rank of Peerage, below only Marquess. As the main focus in Season 1, it’s immediately obvious that the Duke of Hastings, Simmon Basset, is the most eligible bachelor of the season (before a certain Prince shows up!).

We can see further evidence of the Duke and Duchess of Hastings’ wealth later on in the season, when the newlyweds enjoy their honeymoon in a large and lavish country house. Were they to exist in 2023, you could expect the Duke and Duchess of Hastings to have an extremely generous net worth of around £48m in 2023.

Antony Bridgerton and Kate Bridgerton (nee Sharma) - Viscount

Estimated Net Worth: £11.2 - £14.5 million

In the British peerage system, a viscount ranks directly below an earl and above a baron, making it the fourth rank overall. It’s obvious Anthony is considered extremely eligible in Season 2 when his mother finally forces him to seek out a wife - but just how wealthy is the average Viscount in 2023?

Comparing him to the wealth of viscounts in 2023, Antony Bridgerton (and now his wife, Kate Bridgerton) would be worth an estimated £14.5 to £11.2 million in net worth.

Lady Agatha Danbury

Estimated Net Worth: £3.6 million

It’s difficult to get a clear estimate of what Lady Danbury’s net worth would be, considering a Lord or Lady’s net worth can range from the just above middle-class to very wealthy indeed.

However, considering Lady Danbury is a close family friend of the wealthy and powerful Duke of Hastings and a confidante of the Queen herself, we could assume that her net worth would be towards the higher end of the scale. The richest 1% of households are worth at least £3.6 million in the UK, so we’ve estimated Lady Danbury’s net worth based on this.

Benedict Bridgerton

Net worth: £895,000

As the second brother in the Bridgerton family, Benedict would not be nearly as wealthy as Anthony, who inherited the title of Viscount upon his father’s death.

Readers and watchers of the series will have noted Benedict’s passion for art - and indeed, the storyline seems to be building up to the handsome Bridgerton launching a career as an artist for himself.

Were he to have a career as an artist in 2023, Benedict would be earning an annual salary of around £37,475 a year, although it’s fair to guess that he would also have access to a trust fund of sorts from his late father or the Viscount directly. We’ve estimated Benedict’s net worth to be at least in the top 20% of households, at £895,000.

Colin Bridgerton

Net worth: £733,800

Colin Bridgerton is set to be the main focus of Season 3 alongside Penelope Featherington (aka Lady Whistledown), and so his finances may become a little clearer in the next season.

In season 2, Colin was almost cheated out of a considerable sum by Jack Feahterington’s ploy to gain investments into a non-existent ruby mine, but was saved from the scam by Will Mondrich. While it’s not stated how Colin had the funds in the first place, it’s fair to assume that the third eldest Bridgerton son has an allowance from his brother, the Viscount, and access to part of the funds from his late father.

Were this a modern day story, you could expect Colin Bridgerton to be moderately wealthy perhaps with a career as an investment banker considering his interest in investing in a (admittedly fake) business in season 2. Like Eloise, a successful younger sibling of a Viscount would in all likelihood remain in the top 25% richest households in the UK.

Eloise Bridgerton

Net worth: £733,800

Eloise Bridgerton is certainly a fan favourite in the series, with her whip-smart personality and charming awkwardness.

Many would like to see her fulfil her dreams of attending further education and perhaps even become an author or scholar, in which her salary in 2023 would be around £46,012.

In the series, it’s likely that Eloise receives a trust fund allowance from her brother, Anthony, or perhaps an inheritance from her father. It’s unclear exactly how much this would translate to in 2023, but you would certainly expect the younger sister of a Viscount to remain in the top 25% of wealthiest households in the UK, putting her net worth at an estimated £733,800 plus - although whether or not Eloise maintains her status and wealth or throws it away for a different path is likely something we’ll see in the approaching Season 1.

Baroness Featherington - The Featheringtons

Estimated Net Worth: £0

A Baron is the fifth and last rank of the peerage, beneath Duke, Marquess, Earl, and Viscount in precedence. Baron Featherington (before his death) along with his wife and daughters, including Penelope Featherington, would have been worth an estimated £9.3m.

However, as the series tells us, Baron Featherington lost almost all of his family’s fortune, including his daughter’s dowries, due to a gambling problem. Therefore, as the seasons currently stand, the Featherington women’s net worth is close to zero!

Methodology

To find an estimate of the net worth’s of some of the biggest characters in Bridgerton were they to exist in 2023, we looked at the average net worth of individuals in their roles and titles today to provide a base for comparison. For example, to find the estimated net worth of the King and Queen and other characters who hold other ranks of the English peerage, we looked at the net worth of individuals in those positions in this day and age. In addition, we used the average household net worth of the top 25% of earners according to the latest ONS data to average an estimation for characters with lesser titles.

For characters without titles (instead needing to make a living for themselves!), we found the average salary for those roles in 2023 as well as comparing the net worth of individuals renowned for working closely with the British aristocracy.
